A Day in the Life of a Backpacking Gentile, in Numbers

Shirts I packed: 3

Hours we slept: 2.5

Hours is took to get across the Jordan/Israeli border: 5

Number of hours it would actually take to drive straight from Amman to Jerusalem: 1.5

Buses we rode: 5  (3 of those were Israeli and we were obviously the only Gentiles on board. I’m getting used to being stared at by small Jewish children. Is it because I look Arab? We’ve been trying to figure it out all day.)

Number of times we ate hummus: 3

Hippies we met: 1 (We walked so many times around Saker Park our backs were aching from our packs. In the end we couldn’t find them, ended up at a hostel, and discovered the damn hippies changed their schedule!)

Orthodox Jews we saw: Cannot even count there are so many

Human traffic jams in the old city: 1

Friends we’ve made: 2 (from England and Norway)

Israel Day 1: Old City, Jerusalem, Good Friday and Passover Shabat

Road Trip!

We went to Aqaba this weekend. From Jordan’s only port you can view the Red Sea, Egpyt, and Israel, all at once.

England and Ireland

Windsor Castle, Windsor, England, U.K. This is the Queen’s favorite weekend residence.
Dun Laoghaire (dung-lee-ree), Wicklow County, Ireland.

The awesome vintage shoes I got on Portabello Road, Notting Hill, London.
Wicklow Park, “The Garden of Ireland.” Many films like Braveheart and P.S. I love you were filmed here.

Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.
Temple Bar, Dublin, Ireland.
